Below is a description of the volunteer positions that need to be filled for each game. Each team is responsible for covering all positions during their own game.   In past years, on average, each family needed to sign up for three to four slots, depending on the size of their respective teams. Approximately 10-12 volunteers are needed for each home game. Team parents are given a volunteer spreadsheet and roster for their respective teams to assist them in scheduling.   Parents of the spirit squads assist their corresponding football team.

CHAIN GANG: (Home games only) Three individuals are needed for the down and distance chains.

GAME ANNOUNCER: (Home games only) One individual is needed to announce the game.

CONCESSION STANDS: (Home games only) Four people are needed to work each concession stand at their field (two to cook and two to sell). It is necessary to be at the field no later than ½ hour prior to the start of your game so as to ensure the stands are consistently covered.

CONCESSION SET UP:   (Home games only) At least two people are needed to set up each of the concession stands (two individuals for DMS stand and two for Mitey Mite Stadium). Volunteers need to arrive one and a half hours prior to the start of the first game (i.e., 7:30AM if first game is 9AM).   A list of specific duties is provided separately, but includes: filling coolers with drinks and ice, getting grills started, etc.

FIELD SET UP/BREAKDOWN: (Home games only) The teams playing the first games of the day are responsible for helping set up the fields (placing down markers, chains, bleachers and tents at Mitey Mite Stadium, etc.) Volunteers need to report to the equipment shed at the Middle School no later than 7:30AM. Teams will be arriving by 8AM and it gets busy very quickly. There is a list hanging up in the equipment shed listing what needs to be done at each field. The teams playing the last games of the day will be responsible for breaking down the fields and returning the items to the equipment shed. At least one truck will be needed to transport the items to/from the equipment shed and Mitey Mite Stadium.

SCOREBOARD: (Home games – Middle School Field only) One person is needed to run the scoreboard at the Middle School Field – there is no scoreboard at Mitey Mite Stadium.

VIDEOTAPER:  One person is needed to video tape their team’s game and to provide a copy of the tape to their coach. Volunteer will need to supply their own tape and camera.

MPR:  Two people, a recorder and a checker, are needed for each game to cover the Mandatory Play Recorder (MPR) positions. The MPR keeps track of the number of each player’s “plays” from the sidelines and is a MANDATORY requirement of the Pop Warner Organization. The recorder works with someone on the sidelines of the opposing team and records the number of plays for each player on the opposing team. The checker remains on the Duxbury sidelines and assists the recorder from the visiting team in tracking the number of plays for each Duxbury player. At the top of the MPR form it lists the minimum number of plays each player must get, which is based on the number of players on the team. If a player has not received his minimum number of plays by the end of the 3rd quarter, that player must stay in the game until the minimum plays are met. Both the recorder and the checker must sign the MPR form. MPR forms for our own teams MUST BE TURNED IN to either Dino Colucci or Steve Eddy at the end of each game as these forms have to be faxed to the Hockomock League president on Sunday evenings.
