Duxbury Pop Warner Families,
I hope each of your families are enjoying a beautiful President’s Day Weekend.
I wanted to provide you with a quick update regarding the upcoming Pop Warner Football and Cheer season.
Registration
Hard to believe, but registration for the 2012 season is upon us.
I wanted to make you aware that I just posted the registration paperwork up on the website. Please find the document tab on the left hand navigation bar, there are two forms, each a pdf file. I am also attaching the link here: http://leagueathletics.com/Documents.asp?org=duxburypopwarner.com.
As a reminder, you will need to complete the paperwork, have your child’s physician complete and stamp the medical form, attach the 2012 report card (when available) make a check for $250 payable to Duxbury Pop Warner. In addition, if you are a first year player or cheerleader we require copy of your child’s birth certificate with a raised seal. Noting that the report card and potentially the physician’s form will not be available until the summer, please complete and mail the other forms and the check for $250 to: Duxbury Pop Warner, P.O. Box 1401, Duxbury, MA 02331. In addition, the board and I are discussing a few upcoming dates for a paperwork night, where you can bring in your paperwork. Please be on the lookout for an email over the next week or so announcing those dates and times.
Rumor Mill
I also wanted to let everyone know that the board and I have been working very hard to make sure that we provide the best possible experience for your football players and cheerleaders in 2012 and beyond. As part of this effort, we have engaged board members from DYF in discussions around how we might work together to create a better experience for all Duxbury Football and Cheer families. These discussions have been very productive and yielded some interesting ideas. However, the only substantive information to share at this juncture is that if we were to make changes to our program, we would host an information night to share the proposal and discuss with our families. If, when and once these discussions evolve to the point where the board and I believe we can improve the overall experience, you will hear directly from me and have the opportunity to share your thoughts with us in an open forum. Any other communications, bus stop, water cooler, well intentioned or otherwise might be entertaining, but I would encourage you to place them in the proper perspective.
As things stand presently, DPW is planning to play football and have our cheerleaders compete in Pop Warner’s Hockomock League for the 2012 campaign.
I look forward to speaking with you soon.
Sincerely,
Scott Couto
